Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2: No World Tournament Ring Outs, No Transformation Before Battles, And More Revealed

By on

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is still a few months away, but fans have already been clamoring for the RPG/Fighting Game hybrid. While most fans are already familiar with some of the new characters and gameplay, there are still some details fans want to know about the sequel to the original Xenoverse. Thankfully, an interview with a YouTube user has surfaced, sharing some new information about the game.

The YouTube user is The Ninja Spookey, who managed to sit down with one of the producer of the game and ask some questions regarding the World Tournament and transformations. Both have been vital to the Dragon Ball lore, but unfortunately, fans might hear some disappointing news regarding them for this year’s game.

Good news first though; the World Tournament will be added to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Fans had to wait a long time for the World Tournament mode to be available in the first game, so the producer has promised that it will arrive faster in the sequel, though a definitive release date has not been given.

While the World Tournament will be added, there will be no ring out victories during fights. This might disappoint fans of the manga and anime, since those were rules set in place, but it will make for more intense fights. The producer also noted that ring outs would make fights end too quickly, which is not something fans would want.

The producer was also asked if the player could start out as a transformation in the beginning of a fight, but the answer to that is no. Aside from some exceptions like Majin Vegeta, Perfect Cell and Frieza’s final form, everyone else will need to transform during the fight itself. This is so that the player can experience how cool transformation is apparently, which might not be a good answer for fans.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is slated for an October 25 release on current-gen consoles, while the PC version will come out on October 28. The game will not be coming to last-gen consoles like the first game. Fans who pre-order any edition of the game will gain exclusive access to Goku Black from Dragon Ball Super.
