Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has gotten plenty of anime fans excited since Black Goku and Future Trunks were announced as pre-order DLC characters. This indicates that we will see more characters from Dragon Ball Super in the game, but it looks like it might also connect to the main anime series.
One interesting theory discussed in Game Rant points out that Future Trunks has been taken to task for messing with the timeline in the previous Xenoverse game and the Dragon Ball Super anime, something he has done too many times. This has made many fans assume that we will see Trunks included in the Time Patrol in the anime, making the Xenoverse games canon with the main anime timeline.
It’s a fan theory, so it might not hold much weight to some, but it does present plenty of interesting possibilities. It also makes Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 feel more important to fans, since the events of the game could be considered canon to the main anime and manga. Maybe they will even be mentioned in these mediums, though nothing has been confirmed at this point.
Dragon Ball Super isn’t the only series getting love in the game, as a recent gameplay video has shown the GT version of Goku, indicating that we will see characters from Dragon Ball GT. The first game had characters and events from the GT anime as DLC, so it is possible that we will see all of the DLC characters from the previous game as regular characters in the sequel.
Unlike Super or Z, Dragon Ball GT isn’t considered canon by most fans. It never got a manga and was released as an anime, lasting 60 or so episodes. Despite not being considered as part of the series’ timeline, it was still a hit with fans; hence, its presence in this second Xenoverse game.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is currently slated for an October 25 release on PS4 and Xbox One. The sequel will have even more characters than the first game and new gameplay features as well. The PC version of the game will come out on October 28.
