A new Japanese trailer for Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was recently released by Bandai Namco, and it might be the best one thus far. The four-minute video showcases plenty of gameplay and confirms the appearances of Imperfect Cell, Android 16 and Time Breaker Bardock. It was also revealed that the Namekians now have a transformation and it is a big deal. Literally.
Taking a cue from Lord Slug, Namekian avatars can now turn into giants during battle. The gameplay of this even shows a custom Namekian grabbing a character and squeezing it, similar to what Lord Slug did to Goku in the Dragon Ball Z film named after him.
We also get to see the Nimbus Cloud and Goku’s Power Pole in action from a custom avatar. Some fans have deduced that this is what the Earthlings will have as a substitute for transformation, but that doesn’t make any sense since Goku, a Saiyan, used the Nimbus and Power Pole as a kid in the original Dragon Ball anime. Still, it gives the Earthling avatar something and doesn’t make them feel useless.
There are also new areas to explore like the Capsule Corporation, Namek and Frieza’s Spaceship. The first game only had Toki Toki City and the Time Nest, so this is a really nice improvement over the original. It seems like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will definitely be better than the first game.
Aside from these, the trailer also reconfirms a number of things that are already known. The game will run at a beautiful 1080p at 60fps, making it one of the best looking Dragon Ball game to date. The video also shows some of the newer characters in action, including Dedoria, Zarbon, Turles and Janemba.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will come out on October 25 for PS4 and Xbox One, while the PC version is slated for an October 28 release date. The game looks great and will definitely please fans of the anime. Those who pre-order the game can get exclusive access to new foe Goku Black ? or just Black ? from Dragon Ball Super.
