Bandai Namco have released the latest gameplay video of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 and it might be the most exciting one yet. The video confirms that avatars of the Frieza and Majin race will now have transformation forms, something fans were hoping to see in the first game. We also see the new Super Saiyan 3 transformation for avatars that was revealed in the most recent trailer of the game.
The Frieza race will have access to his final golden form from Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. It’s not clear if this will be the only transformation for the Frieza race, but if it is, it does look good on the custom character shown in the short gameplay video.
Fans of the Majin race are in for a surprise in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, as the transformation turns them into a version of Kid Buu. This was the most powerful version of Buu that Goku and his friends fought in the final season of Dragon Ball Z, so it is a force to be reckoned with. Interestingly enough, the Kid Buu transformation will have the same color as the one players choose, so we can see blue, red and even purple versions of Kid Buu.
Sadly, it seems like those who plan on picking the Earthling or Namekian race will still have no form to transform to. This is being faithful to the series, since none of the human characters could transform into anything, but it’s still disappointing. Fans will probably wonder why the Earthling race is there anyway, since Namekians will at least get to access secret areas in Namek.
These transformations might seem like minor gameplay additions, but they are appreciated by fans of the series. In the first game, Saiyans were the only ones with transformations and could only reach Super Saiyan 2. Adding Super Saiyan 3 and actual transformations for the Frieza and Majin race is a step forward.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 comes to PS4 and Xbox One on October 25, while the PC version comes in October 28. Those who pre-order the game can play as Black Goku from Dragon Ball Super.
