Previously, it was revealed that the younger version of Goku from Dragon Ball GT would appear in the upcoming video game Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Now, more GT characters have been confirmed, as a video has shown that Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta and Super 17 will be joining the game’s roster on launch day.
The addition ? or re-addition to those who pre-ordered the first game ? of Super Saiyan 4 Vegeta should please a lot of fans, since some gamers weren’t able to play as this version of the Saiyan Prince in the original Xenoverse. He remained a pre-order bonus throughout and was never released as standalone DLC, which angered some fans. This might still be the case with Goku Black though, so fans better start pre-ordering the sequel.
Super 17 was part of the GT DLC pack in the last game, along with young Goku, Pan and Trunks, so it seems like all, or most, of the DLC will be in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. This means we might see the Resurrection F DLC as well, so fans who want to use SSGSS Goku or the golden form of Frieza will likely be able to do so.
Dragon Ball GT has faced a lot of derision from fans in recent years since the anime series is no longer part of the canon. The existence of Dragon Ball Super has essentially erased GT from the series’ mythology, though it could always be considered part of an alternate universe.
As DBZanto pointed out in the aforementioned video, the movies themselves don’t really count as canon either, aside from the two most recent ones; Battle of Gods and Resurrection F. And yet, fans love villains like Broly, Turles and Cooler, all of whom have only appeared in the movies, so it seems like these stories have their place in the fandom. GT is no exception.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is slated for an October 25 release on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC version coming out in October 28. Fans who pre-order any version of the game will get Goku Black as a special playable character.
