Dragon Ball Super Episode 50 Recap: Goku vs Black, No Need for Goku-Vegeta Fusion?

By on

Dragon Ball Super Episode 50 just aired and finally, the battle between Son Goku and Black Goku took place. However, it was a bit unsatisfying considering that Son Goku did not even use his full power. Plus, back in the future time, the installment revealed that a major character is still alive.

It can be recalled that at the end of the past episode, Black Goku appeared in the present time and immediately recognized the presence of Goku. The latest installment of the anime series titled ?Goku vs Black! The Road Towards the Future is Sealed? picked up where the previous one has left off and presented Black Goku descending from the dark portal.

Upon his arrival, he quickly noticed the presence of Goku, Vegeta and the god of destruction, Beerus. Son Goku then went up to declare his desire to fight Black Goku, which the latter accepted without hesitancy. Based on Goku?s appearance, he used Super Saiyan 2. However, although he still has a lot to offer strength wise, it seems like his second SSJ transformation was already enough to inflict serious damage on Black.

Meanwhile, while the showdown was happening, Beerus and Whis noticed the Ring of Time Black Goku is wearing. It was later revealed in Dragon Ball Super Episode 50 that only the Kaioshins or the Supreme Kais are the ones allowed to wear such a ring. However, it remains a mystery whether or not Black Goku is a Kaioshin.

Prior to the revelation Whis shared, Black Goku was pulled by the dark portal back to the future. Whis explained that it is because the distortion in time and space has already been fixed and the Ring of Time responded to it and brought Black Goku to the future by force. But, before he completely disappeared, he managed to destroy the time machine of Future Trunks.

Future Trunks was completely devastated when the time machine was destroyed. Goku then approached him and asked whether the Black Goku he faced is stronger than the one Trunks fought in the future. The latter confirmed that the Black Goku that recently appeared is a bit stronger than the one in the future.

Vegeta then told him not to worry because Goku and him are far more stronger than the enemy. But, the real potential of Black Goku is still a mystery considering that his ki grew rapidly during his fight with Son Goku.

With the destruction of the time machine in Dragon Ball Super 50, Goku, Future Trunks and the others face a new problem to solve – how to travel back to the future? Luckily, Bulma has a capsule in her laboratory that contains an older version of the time machine which gave everyone hope. At the end of the episode, the dead body of Future Mai was shown, but what came as a surprise is the movement of her hand that indicated she is still alive.

Considering that Goku only used Super Saiyan 2 in fighting Black Goku, which obviously gave the latter a hard time, Son Goku and the rest are still safe as he still has Super Saiyan 3, Super Saiyan Blue, and the combination of Super Saiyan Blue and Kaioken. Also, if the phase continues with no huge improvement on Black Goku?s power, Goku will defeat him easily and there is no need for the fans? prediction of Goku and Vegeta fusion.
