After an early leak, Bandai Namco has released the first Dragon Ball FighterZ gameplay trailer, and it is quite epic. Revealed during the Microsoft press conference, FighterZ will have intense three-on-three combat and some of the best Dragon Ball visuals. Clearly using the same engine as Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2, this should be a treat for fans in 2018.
Despite debuting on the Xbox portion of the show, the game will also be coming to the PS4 and PC. Gematsu leaked this prior to the trailer’s announcement, though the actual gameplay trailer was only shown today for E3 2017. Arc System Works has done a remarkable job of making the title look as authentic as the actual anime.
Transformations, Team-Ups and Lasers Galore
In the brief Dragon Ball FighterZ gameplay trailer, we saw transformations for Goku and Freeza, as well amazing finishing moves. Vegeta’s Final Flash looks just as epic as its appearance against Cell’s second form, while Teen Gohan’s Kamehameha is shot-for-shot. We also saw Goku turn Super Saiyan 3, while Freeza transformed into his Golden State from the Resurrection F movie.
The much touted three-on-three fights were also showcased in E3, and they look insane in the absolute best way possible. Fighters can take the place of their teammate really quickly, keeping gamers on their toes. Considering how Marvel vs Capcom Infinite has limited itself to two-on-two fights, this looks to be a fantastic alternative.
Possible Super Content
Golden Freeza’s brief appearance in the Dragon Ball FighterZ gameplay video showed that we would see Dragon Ball Super content. While we only see Goku and Vegeta in their golden Super Saiyan forms, their new blue forms should debut soon. Here is hoping we see Goku Black, Cabba and more Super characters, since they already appeared in Xenoverse 2.
Confirmed characters thus far include Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Cell, Freeza and Majin Buu, all of whom showed unique fighting prowess. Dragon Ball games have often been criticized for having fighters that play similarly, so this game should be the exception. Due to the impressive resume that Arc System Works has, this could be the best Dragon Ball fighting game made.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is expected to come out on PS4, Xbox One and PC in early 2018. Fans can see similar visuals in action by picking up Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 on the same consoles. Players that want a unique DBZ experience can get Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 on the aforementioned consoles now, as well as the Nintendo Switch later this year.
