Dota 2 7.00 has finally arrived! Following the thrilling conclusion to this past weekend?s Boston Major, Valve unleashed what is arguably the biggest bombshell the game has ever seen. Though it?s still early, there?s no doubt that this patch will be seen as a huge landmark in Dota 2 history. It?s safe to say that the Dota you used to know will be a thing of the past once 7.00 hits.
DOTA 2 7.00 Patch Is A Total Game Changer
Let?s kick things off with the biggest addition–the introduction of Hero talent trees. When the update goes live, all of Dota 2?s 113 heroes will have their own unique talents to choose from. The system is similar to that of other MOBAs like Heroes of the Storm and League of Legends.
Once a hero reaches levels 10/15/20/25, the player is given two talents to choose from. These vary per hero and give passive bonuses such as increased movement speed, higher base damage, more stats, or special auras. For example, at level 10, Shadow Fiend can choose either a +15 movement speed boost or +20 buff to attack speed. Do you go for the latter to boost your DPS? Or, opt for the former to help you chase down fleeing heroes and move between lanes faster?
This mechanic adds a whole new layer of tactical depth?that makes matches more dynamic. If your team is getting beaten by a particular strategy early on, you can spec your talents to counter it and force your opponents to change up their game plan.
Another major gameplay change is the introduction of a backpack. This gives heroes an additional three slots to carry items in. Gear and consumables in the bag give no bonuses, cannot be activated, and cool down at a reduced speed. To prevent any quick swapping shenanigans, all items will be disabled for six seconds when moved between the two inventories.
On the UI side, the game?s HUD and store interface has been remade from the ground up to improve the user experience.
This doesn?t even scratch the surface of all the changes coming in Dota 2 7.00. To see the full breakdown, check out the game?s official website.
