World?s No. 1-ranked Novak Djokovic is only inches away from being the US Open Grand Slam champion as he beats Feliciano Lopez in the quarterfinals match last Tuesday night at the US Open 2015 in Flushing Meadows, New York. Djokovic finishes the electrifying match with 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 in four sets. After the amazing match between siblings Serena and Venus Williams, Novak Djokovic silently stunned his opponent Feliciano Lopez, according to ESPN.
Apparently, it wasn?t easy for tennis player?to take the win from no. 18-ranked Feliciano Lopez. ?Look, he?s one of the rare players that serves and volleys off the first serve,? he?shared in an interview with ESPN. ?It was anybody?s game in the fourth set. He had a couple of break points. I played pretty good, very consistent. Very glad to get through in four.?
But the 28-year-old tennis player still had what it takes to become the winner. ?Obviously, it was frustrating at times, but this was quarterfinals of a Grand Slam. This is what you expect,? he said. His quarterfinal win faces him off against defending champion Marin Cilic, who defeated Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in a 6-4, 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 6-4 five-set match, according to ESPN.
Novak Djokovic is now 9-0 in US Open quarterfinals matches, playing his 26th consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal. The No.1-ranked Serbian has won an amazing 40 hardcourt titles with only one title at the US Open which was in 2011, shared by ESPN. As for his next match, the top-seeded player is definitely pumped up and ready for his next win. ?Semifinals of a Grand Slam is a great achievement,? he?said. ?Hopefully I can keep going.?
