Disney Infinity 2.0 Gets Maleficent and Princess Merida!

By on

The main antagonist of Disney?s 1959 animated film Sleeping Beauty is coming to Disney Infinity 2.0. That?s right; Maleficent will be making her appearance in the Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition?s character roster. The announcement was made by Disney Interactive during a preview of the movie Maleficent.

The event was held in San Francisco and attendees saw a presentation from Disney Infinity before the Maleficent screening. The Official Disney Fan Club event description mentioned that: ?Disney is bringing the evil to the next chapter of Disney Infinity?.

We first mentioned about the possibility of Maleficent joining the Disney Infinity ranks here. Disney has timed it well as the Maleficent movie is currently predicted to top the movie charts this coming weekend. Maleficent is the live action movie rendition of the Sleeping Beauty story but from the opposite side of the spectrum as it is told from the witch?s point of view. The film is starred by Hollywood superstar Angelina Jolie as Maleficent.

With the momentum of the movie behind it, Maleficent is sure to be a hit for kids and adults alike who play the game. The hype will just continue to build up especially since the movie is sure to be a best seller for the next few weeks at the very least. Disney?s timing couldn?t have been any better.

Aside from Maleficent, Disney Interactive has also revealed that Princess Merida of DunBroch will also be coming to Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition. Princess Merida is the protagonist of the hit animated movie film, Brave. Disney?s official Twitter account posted a teaser about the hero?s inclusion with an image featuring her iconic hair as well as bow and arrow. The caption read: ?Bring on the Brave?.

In an official webcast earlier this month, Executive Producer John Vignocchi said that Disney Infinity 2.0 Edition will launch this coming September 2014. The game was unveiled by Disney Interactive and developer Avalanche Software last April. The latest iteration in the real world toy/video game hybrid will be coming to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Wii U, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Windows PC, and the iOS.
