Bethesda Softworks has confirmed their E3 conference will be held this coming June 11. With Arkane Studio now finished working on Prey, the team now has the chance to revisit and reveal new content for Dishonored 2. Here’s how much chances fans have for a story expansion announcement at Bethesda’s E3 2017 conference.
According to Bethesda’s Twitter Post, their “Bethesdaland” E3 conference will be on June 11 at 6:30 PM Pacific Time. The promotional image clearly shows Dishonored characters like Emily, Corvo, and The Outsider in the lower left portion. Bethesda still acknowledges this series, albeit they’ve not talked about Dishonored 2 in the past few months.
Bethesda’s show might have some information about their new releases and barely discussed titles. Dishonored 2 are among these unattended Bethesda titles as Bethesda has yet to announce whether the game will receive a story DLC. Bethesda has few titles to talk about at E3 like Quake Champions, Elder Scrolls Online, and Fallout 4 VR. As for rumors, there could be a new Wolfenstein game, a Prey DLC, and the rumored Fallout New Orleans. Bethesda has enough time in their conference to showcase a Dishonored 2 DLC expansion.
Novel Accidentally Spoils E3 Reveal?
A third entry in the Dishonored novels from Adam Christopher also surfaced last month, teasing that the story will tie-in with the events of the “additional digital content” of the main game. As Christopher’s Dishonored novels directly tackle the events in the sequel, it’s likely this digital content is referring to Dishonored 2.
However, the novel has been pulled out from Amazon recently. It’s possible the listing was taken down to keep DLC talks to a minimum for a big surprise at Bethesda’s E3 2017 conference. Taking down the listing for the third novel is understandable as Christopher’s second novel has yet to be released. Christopher’s second Dishonored novel, titled The Return of Daud, is scheduled for an August 29 release.
Arkane Studios Right Now
The official Arkane Studios Twitter and Facebook page has mostly shown Prey updates and not much of Dishonored 2. Arkane Studios didn’t even answer questions about Dishonored 2 DLC in an Ask Me Anything thread on Reddit. Since Arkane Studios has ignored questions about Dishonored 2 DLC, its E3 2017 sounds unlikely. However, the developers might’ve been doing this intentionally to collect hype for its upcoming announcement.
Dishonored DLC Timing
While Dishonored 2 has yet to receive any DLC content, Arkane has added New Game+, permadeath mode, and mission replay via updates. Dishonored 2 might follow a similar DLC schedule to the first Dishonored which had its expansive DLCs months after its release.
The first Dishonored DLC includes retailer exclusive pre-order bone charm packs. The second DLC, Dunwall City Trials, featured challenges using Corvo’s powers and abilities, which was underwhelming for some as it did not expound on the game’s story. The third and fourth DLCs had its own standalone content, but was released almost half a year later since the game’s launch. Dishonored 2 was released November last year and it’s almost half a year too since it was released.
The Bethesda E3 conference is expected to hold information about unannounced titles as well as games out in the market. We’ll have to wait until June 11 to know if Bethesda has something in store for Dishonored fans. For us, we believe there’s enough evidence pointing to a story expansion for Dishonored 2 at E3 2017.
