Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1 Features Greater Rifts, Seasons and More Time-locked Legendaries

It?s been in the works for ages (well, maybe a couple of months) and we still don?t have a release date but Blizzard has just released the details for the Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.0.

After all the rumors, hopes and dreams that have been circulating the web on what?s in store for Reaper of Souls, they?ve finally released the details.

So if you want to know what?s in store for the upcoming Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1, here are the details:

1. Seasons

With Seasons, you can start from scratch with a Seasonal character. Depending on the Season, you may get access to special characters for that Season that can acquire new loot and special rewards. For the hardcore players, you can appear on special Leaderboards.

2. Conquests

If you?ve gotten all the non-Season achievements, Conquests now give you a chance to win new Season-only achievements. What?s special about these quests is that only the first 1000 players ever get to have their names immortalized on the Leaderboards.

Some players don?t want or have the time to start from scratch. So that means the Season characters are out of the question?and so is all the new loot! Well, if players can wait until the Season is over, they can get the Season-only loot in a normal game by that time.

4. Greater Rifts

Greater Rifts are more challenging dungeons that can be accessed using special keys that drop from normal Rift Bosses. Within a Greater Rift, you?re required to lure the Guardian out within a certain limit of time based on a monster-quality meter. This means it?s not about how many monsters you kill, but the kinds of enemies you fell. Another feature of these Greater Rifts is that you don?t get any loot from normal enemies?all the loot is tied up with the boss.

Be careful, though, since there?s no going back to town when you?re in a Greater Rift. You also can?t teleport to a player in a Greater Rift. With each new Rift, the difficulty goes higher. You also have a chance to skip to a higher-level Greater Rift if you finish the Rift in record time.

5. Legendary Gems

Blizzard likes to drop their hints, but as of the moment, they haven?t ironed out the Legendary Gem mechanic out completely. What we do know is that these Gems are infinitely upgradeable and can only be acquired through completing Greater Rifts at higher difficulties. I can’t wait to upgrade the hell out of the Emeralds in my swords.

6. Cesspools

Another vague update is the addition of new content for Westmarch in the form of Cesspools. So far, what we know is that you?ll be able to get new environments for your Rifts such as the sewers of Westmarch.

I?m particularly excited for the Seasonal characters and the Greater Rifts. The gameplay can get tedious when you?ve completed your gear so new content instead of hotfixes is always welcome.
