Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.2: Keywarden Nerf for Hellfire Amulet and Ring?

By on

Did the Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.2 just make it harder to get your Hellfire gear?

With Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.2 finally rolled out, we can see some subtle changes in the game. For people who played before the new patch was released, one change that can be detrimental to enjoyment is the nerf for the Keywarden drops.

The Keywardens in all the Acts drop keys to open the Uber boss realm found in Act I. Here, you can fight the biggest bosses in Diablo 3 (Reaper of Souls not included) two at a time to collect their materials. These materials can then be used to craft a Hellfire Amulet and a Hellfire Ring which are very powerful items in the game.

For Demon Hunters, the Ancient Hellfire Amulet with a good passive and a maxed-out trifecta is a gamer?s dream come true. For other classes waiting for an Aranoch or other immunity amulet to fall, this is a great end-game gear substitute.

Devs?made things just hard enough before

Since crafting the Amulet or the Ring does require 10 Forgotten Souls and 4 Uber materials, the drop rate on these was quite reasonable back in Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.1.

You could get a key on Torment 6 from the Keywardens and materials from the Ubers whenever you killed them.diablo 3

This meant that you could roughly get a set of materials for one crafting every 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on your class. Demon Hunters could do it faster since they could kill the bosses much faster than the other classes.

Now, Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.2 makes it disappointing

Were the devs unhappy with how many Hellfire Amulets and Rings were in the game? Ever since the new patch rolled in, the Keywardens don?t give a guaranteed Torment 6 drop for their keys. Sometimes, the Ubers don?t drop their materials even with a full party of 4.

What does this mean for players?

This just means that players have to work harder to get the keys and Nekarat may not be a viable main source for keys. Nekarat is the Keywarden in Act IV that can supposedly drop both his Act IV key and all the other wardens? other keys.

With the new nerf, farming him may not be that rewarding.

What do you think of this new development? Are you still farming keys? Do you experience something else? Drop a comment and let?s discuss!
