Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.2: RoRG & Unity Top Legendary Rings for Greater Rifts

By on

Greater Rifts, the tiered, infinite dungeons that the Blizzard developers implemented in Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1 gave players? new way to test their skills and have finally made me feel like the game really wants to kill me. With Leaderboards, the best teams and solo players for each class get to compete for top spots and to show off their builds and gear.

Solo build

When you look at the solo builds for all these players, two rings are at the fore?and they?re not what you expect, well, at least half of them.

The higher (or deeper) you go into Greater Rifts, survivability becomes the priority as monsters hit you much harder with their affixes and normal attacks. While it’s always the goal to reach higher Greater Rift levels in Diablo 3 RoS, it’s important that you can actually finish the next level or get left out of the amazing loot and Legendary Gem upgrade.

For Greater Rift solo runs?meaning you and your chosen follower, the best two rings to have with you are:

Ring of Royal Grandeur

While you can easily expect the Ring of Royal Grandeur to have a mainstay slot thanks to its affix that lets you get set bonuses with one less item from the set, why would Unity be a pick? Why would Stone of Jordan not be the best other ring in Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.2?

Your followers never let you down.

Essentially, Unity?s affix of damage sharing also applies to your followers (and Monks too!). If you have the Focus for your follower to make them un-killable, you?ve got an extra damage buffer right next to you. These follower items are also Legendary Drops, alternatives to their special items that grant them access to all skills all the time.

In Diablo RoS Patch 2.1.2 Greater Rifts, damage and enemy toughness scales up the deeper you go. Since Greater Rift level 25 is equivalent to Torment 6, anything beyond that can and will kill DPS toons easily (yes, I?m looking at you Jailer boss).

What kind of stats should your RoRG and your Unity ring have?

Ideally, you should be looking for at least two of the DPS Trifecta (CHD, CHC, AS) and a socket so you can put in your Legendary Gems. Cooldown reduction is also good if you?re running a tank or support build.

The Unity Ring also has a small elite damage increase (up to 15%), to get rid of the yellows and blues much faster.

The RoRG can be farmed from Act 1 Caches. The fastest way to farm these babies is through Torment 6 Bounty Hunting?where you get a sure drop for cache-only Legendary Items at that level. Keep in mind, though, you may need a few runs to get the ring as the other cache-only Legendary Items might drop in Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.1.

Unity drops anywhere, so keep farming on Torment 6.

Unity Ring FAQ

While the salient points of using Unity with your followers in Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.1.2 can be a bit fuzzy, players on Battle.net?have tested some possible procs with other relevant items:

  • It does not proc with Asheara’s set if you have a Unity on every follower and an immortal Focus.
  • Equip only with one other follower at any time with no melee damage reduction on that follower’s skills.
  • Use armor bonuses and ranged damage reduction skills for the follower (especially the Enchantress).

While Reaper of Souls invigorated the whole Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls franchise, Patch 2.1.2 keeps the game continuously relevant, even after 2 years from its release. Thanks to Malthael, Nephalem Rifts, Greater Rifts and Seasons, entry and re-entry into the game is much easier and more valuable than ever.
