Devil May Cry 5: Will Dante Return This Year?

Devil May Cry 5

Capcom?s appearance at Gamescom 2016 and Tokyo Game Show 2016 may mean more games coming from them this year. However, any signs of Devil May Cry 5 still hasn?t been seen yet. Will we finally see Capcom?s hack-and-slash game this year?

Currently, Capcom headlined their survival horror game Resident Evil 7 and upcoming Dead Rising 4 entry this Gamescom 2016. As seen in the Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Lantern trailer, the game currently looks more similar to Silent Hill and Outlast than the original Resident Evil 7 concept. Additionally, Dead Rising 4 is slowly becoming more similar to Saints Row in its weaponry rather than implementing using more crafty or ragtag contraptions to fight with like its previous entries as seen on Gematsu’s video. If we?re going to see Devil May Cry 5, it might be in a more different light unless the Devil May Cry reboot was the first product of this radical treatment.

According to Italian news site, Gamesprincess, ?Devil May Cry creator Hideki Kamiya confirmed at Gamescom 2016 that the Scalebound?s combat system is ?inspired by Devil May Cry.? Since Kamiya created the Devil May Cry series, Scalebound?s gameplay may actually be reminiscent of Devil May Cry. If this is true, Devil May Cry fans could opt to look out for Scalebound if they want a potential Devil May Cry 5 game.

Additionally, Capcom has also announced their lineup for the Tokyo Game Show 2016. However, Devil May Cry 5 is not part of this list. Along with Deep Down and the other untouched Capcom intellectual property, Devil May Cry 5 doesn?t exist up until Capcom officially announces it.

With the Devil May Cry reboot garnering heavy criticism during its early existence, it?s highly possible that Capcom may not want to venture into this franchise easily. Capcom still looks interested in the series as they?ve released the Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition last year. It racked good enough reviews on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Perhaps we?ll have to wait for Capcom?s next move if they?ll ask Ninja Theory or Kamiya himself for another entry, or Capcom might experiment on the franchise again.
