Deus Ex Mankind Divided executive game director Jean-Francois Dugas from Eidos Montreal has confirmed a Day One Patch for the game. Despite admitting that Day One patches are the norm in large, open world and expansive games, the director said that he doesn?t like them, but they might be necessary to improve the gameplay experience on the Deus Ex Mankind Divided release. Here?s what we know so far about the Day One patch for the Deus Ex game that?s coming out on August 23.

In Apptrigger?s interview with Dugas, the director confirmed that the Deus Ex Mankind Divided release will also include a Day One patch, though he admitted that he?d rather not have one, if possible. However, Dugas explained that such patches are often ?recommended? so players can enjoy a better gaming experience during the game?s first few days.

Dugas also stressed the need for Day One patches, specifically in open world games like Deus Ex, Elder Scrolls, and the Fallout entries, due to their scope. Since these games provide players a freedom of choice, finding every bug and error is difficult as the developers have to stress test every path choice of the game.

Additionally, these games also balance battle systems and items besides the game?s dialogue choices. In fact, the release date of Square Enix?s Final Fantasy 15 has been pushed back to November 29 so that a Day One patch will be included on the disc itself on its release. This means players won?t have to install a large update upon receiving the game.

Lastly, Dugas said that Day One patches are important because some changes cannot be added to the disc once the game has already gone gold and is ready to be released. The developers may opt to release the game at its most stable version. At times, games that have game-breaking bugs on its first week often have a hard time recovering from negative reviews which affect the sales of the game. Notable examples of these are 2014?s Assassin?s Creed Unity and this year?s Street Fighter 5.

However, the game?s Day One patch does not affect the Deus Ex Mankind Divided release on August 23. It?ll just hamper your playthrough as you?ll have to install the patch first before you can start anything in the game. Stay updated on Deus Ex Mankind Divided news here on TheBitBag.
