Last week was a good week for Destiny fans as Bungie had a lot to reveal about the game’s anticipated sequel. However, it seems like more details about the game’s anticipated release has been leaked and we’ve gotten to know much more about the game. Here’s every detail for the Destiny 2 release.
Redditor noblesteeda shares what seems to be a letter from Bungie to GameStop. The letter sees Bungie delving on the Destiny 2 release details including the game’s expansion releases, data carryovers and many more. However, the letter was revealed closely to April 1, but not during the date itself. We should take the leaked letter as a rumor for now as it could be a prank.
Everything We Know So Far
The letter reveals a few of the things we’ve already known. For starters, it notes that the Destiny 2 release date is on Sept. 8 this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game will be available both digitally and physically across all platforms. Next up, the letter addresses the bonuses of pre-ordering the game. Aside from having early access to the game’s beta, GameStop will also give out a limited edition Cayde-6 Figurine.
The letter also gives a full rundown of what players of the original game can do with their accounts. “When you log into Destiny 2 for the first time you will see that your character personalisation – class, race, gender, face, hair, and marking selections – for all characters that have achieved Level 20 and completed the Black Garden story mission will carry forward. Additionally, we plan to award veteran accounts with honours that reflect your Destiny 1 accomplishments,” says Bungie.
As for the game’s upcoming expansions, Bungie notes that these will release in Winter 2017 and Spring 2018. The additional content will add in new story missions, co-operative activities, more multiplayer content and of course, an array of new equipment.
We’ve yet to know what the expansions will bring but Bungie could bring in a load of content to the game like it did with The Taken King expansion. However,it’s likely that we’ll hear about this a few months after the release of Destiny 2.
As for gameplay, we’ve yet to see how the game will play out. We’ll get a glimpse of it in the May 18 livestream and in months to come but it’s almost certain that Bungie will have something in store at E3 2017.
