Most fans of Joe Madureira are excited for Darksiders: Warmastered Edition. The upcoming remastering (or warmastering) will look nice with copies of Darksiders 2: Deathinitive. While most will get it on the PS4 and Xbox One later this month, some were hoping to get it on Wii U. However, the Wii U version has been delayed and will be released at a ?later date.?
This has made some fans wonder if this will be the last Wii U retail game. Admittedly, the console could get a few eShop titles. No one will complain about more ports from the Nintendo 64 or the GBA, but this might be the last ?new? game that comes to the console. This is sad, since this is not a new game at all.
Not So New, Not So Old
As most gamers already know, Darksiders: Warmastered is a remaster of the 2010 game Darksiders. While it might be a six-year-old game, it does look fine on a current-gen system, as the trailer shows. Thanks to the stylized visuals and the lack of realism, the dark fantasy look of the game holds up. It’s not Uncharted 4 or Gears of War 4, but it doesn’t have to be.
However, it is kind of sad for this to be the last Wii U game of 2016. Next year has a slight glimmer of hope, since Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is coming to the console. However, that’s more of a sendoff for the console rather than a hot title that will attract audiences to the console.
Time To Say Goodbye
With the Nintendo Switch coming next year, it’s doubtful anyone will bother with the only new Zelda game for the Wii U. Darksiders: Warmastered might be the last game for the console this year and it doesn’t even have a proper release date. PS4 and Xbox One owners can pick it up on November 29.
Is the Wii U a terrible console? No. It had great games like Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Splatoon and Super Mario Maker. However, there weren?t enough titles like this for the console.
