Bandai Namco Entertainment and FromSoftware has gone dark on the Dark Souls 3 DLC updates. Previously, Dark Souls 3 director Hidetaka Miyazaki confirmed that there?s one DLC coming in fall this year and another one in early 2017. However, it?s been awhile since they?ve appeared publicly to announce these contents. Here are some events where Dark Souls 3 devs can show up and announce or at least reveal the upcoming Dark Souls 3 DLC.
As seen on the official Gamescom site, the event will start this coming August 17 and end on August 21. Last year, Dark Souls 3 made an appearance at Gamescom 2015, so it?s not impossible that the game won?t appear again this year. In a press release, Bandai Namco revealed they will have Tekken 7, Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 and one unrevealed title will be showcased in Gamescom 2016. Unless the upcoming Dark Souls 3 DLC fills in a full game of its own, we can only hope for it to at least be mentioned in an interview with Bandai Namco officials during the event.
Tokyo Game Show 2016
According to the official Tokyo Game Show site, the event will run from September 15 to 18 which still hits the fall release window of the first Dark Souls 3 DLC. More than Gamescom, Dark Souls 3 has a higher chance to show up at Tokyo Game Show as the event mostly caters to Japanese games. Bandai Namco Entertainment has been confirmed to show up in the upcoming Japanese event.
Currently, Dark Souls 3 fans are literally in the dark when it comes to the upcoming expansion. Miyazaki?s interview with Kotaku only left vague clues about the upcoming DLC, including the fact that it will have various additions to the game. It?s possible that FromSoftware intends to surprise their fans with the upcoming DLC by leaving no clues about the first scheduled DLC this Fall.
In previous Dark Souls titles, the DLC map designs were mostly different from the main game?s design. This makes the DLC provide a more unique experience than the main game despite them being significantly shorter. Stay updated on Dark Souls 3 DLC news here on TheBitBag.
