In 2001, there was a lot of excitement when it was announced that a PlayStation Vita version for BioShock will be released. A few years have passed since that announcement, but still no such game has been launched.
Recently, BioShock creator, Ken Levine finally?discussed?what he envisions the game would have looked like.
In Twitter, he said, ?I was thinking a Final Fantasy Tactics-style thing set in Pre-fall Rapture? As some know, I?m a turn-based whore.?
He further explains that the BioShock PS Vita version would ?work well? and will ?not be a compromise in any way.?
There are doubts on whether any work has been undertaken for Bioshock’s PS Vita version.
As of the moment, no preview, either in image or video has ever been released. The publisher of BioShock, 2K Games has yet to finalize a deal with Sony regarding a PS Vita version of BioShock.
Levine is willing to participate in making the PS Vita game, but there are some legal complications that prevented him from doing so. He commented, ?Wish I could do it myself, but lawyers and all that, I still love my Vita.?
In 2005, Irrational Games, the company that created BioShock, transferred the franchise rights to 2K Games. Last February, Irrational Games closed shop. When 2K Games was asked about the status of a PS Vita version of BioShock, the company responded that as of the moment, ?there are no updates.?
A few former Irrational Games developers, including Levine, are now working for Take-Two Interactive, a sister company of 2K Games. Any possible update on BioShock’s PS Vita version will now be handled by 2KMarin, another sister company of 2K Games.
BioShock was first developed for Windows PC and Xbox 360. Later on, a version for PlayStation 3 and OS X was added.
BioShock is a role playing first-person shooter game, and the timeline is set during the 60’s where the game?s hero finds himself trapped in an underwater city called Rapture.
The game offers several options in dealing with characters or enemies, and this can involve choosing a certain tactic or way to fight an enemy, or choosing to kill or spare the life of another character.
