Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy was announced earlier this week, much to the excitement of the classic title?s fans. However, the 2017 remastered version for PS4 and new consoles is already being questioned prior to its release date.

An official Activision press release gave details about the highly anticipated comeback. It stated that Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy?s release date is slated for 2017, but did not give a specific month.

Furthermore, the statement revealed that the title will be priced at $39.99. This is still more affordable compared to the $60 retail price for new games. However, some gamers are likely to question this amount since Crash Bandicoot?s 2017 version is just a remake of a very old franchise.

Crash Bandicoot N Sane Trilogy price explained

The pricing issue was addressed by Dan Tanguay on the PlayStation’s website. He is a game director at Vicarious Visions who is handling the much awaited trilogy.

According to him, Crash Bandicoot?s remastered version is not just a ?copy-paste? of the original game. A lot of work reportedly went into creating the trilogy from the ground up in order to ?preserve its feel and structure.?

“They’re roughly 20 years old, and technology has advanced significantly in that time,? Tanguay said. Naughty Dog developer?s original code and assets were also ?nearly unusable,? hence the extra effort.

Balance of old and new

With new consoles such as PS4, Crash Bandicoot?s updated version will inevitably contain additional features.

Vicarious Visions allegedly needed to recreate gameplay and levels from scratch to maintain its simplicity and precision. However, developers also integrated some of its own “lush and zany art, animation and audio.”

?Quality of life? improvements

Tanguay also shared that they made several ?quality-of-life improvements? for Crash Bandicoot players. This includes manual saves, auto-saves and a “unified checkpointing” system that were not available in the 1996 version.

The insider said that more improvements will be made. However, Tanguay teased that he will share them at a later time.
