CounterSpy finally receives North America and Europe release date; coming on August 19 and 20, respectively, to PS3, PS4, and PS Vita
Word got out that the upcoming game CounterSpy is arriving on PS3, PS4, and PS Vita on August 19 for North America and the next day, August 20, for Europe. CounterSpy is an action/stealth game set during the Cold War era.
Developed by Dinamighty, CounterSpy is a side-scrolling video game published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is also developed with help from SCE Foster City Studio, the group previously credited for working on game franchises such as Infamous, Uncharted, and Resistance. Dinamighty Lead Designer David Nottingham described CounterSpy in a recent post published on the official PlayStation blog:
“For those who are not familiar, CounterSpy is an Action Stealth side-scroller from Dynamighty (that?s us) set during the Cold War. You play as an agent for C.O.U.N.T.E.R, whose singular goal is to prevent the superpowers from accomplishing their crazy race to destroy the moon with nuclear missiles.”
In the game, players take control of an elite spy who tries to stop a weapons race that is seen to ultimately cause destruction of the Earth?s moon. The character should slip through enemy bases (in 2D) undetected and must take cover for 3D, cover-based shooting battles.
CounterSpy also has a cross-save compatible feature, meaning players can save their progress in the cloud and continue where they left off on whatever PlayStation gaming console they will use. As mentioned, the game will be out on August 19 in North America as part of the Play Summer Program by PlayStation. Those who will buy several promo items will be awarded with store credit. The game itself will cost $ 14.99, but for PlayStation Plus Members it will only be $ 11.99. In Europe, CounterSpy is priced at ? 12.99 (or ? 9.99); for PS Plus subscribers, they will enjoy a 20 percent discount.
