Hearthstone and Clash Royale not your style? Why not take a look at Deckstorm? DeNA games? new mobile collectible card game just launched globally on Google Play and iOS app stores earlier today. We?ve covered its gameplay and deck building in previous articles, so feel free to check them out. It does some interesting things with the genre that might pique your interest, so read on to find out more.

Why Play Deckstorm?

Deckstorm features a pretty robust amount of single-player content. There?s a story mode campaign that has you traversing through the game?s fantasy setting of Ravia. If you want to flex your deck building chops, there are also Hearthstone-like adventure scenarios that force you to tailor your deck to the given situation. Aside from this, there?s also an endless dungeon-type mode called the Tower of Provenants that sees you fighting against increasingly difficult opposition.

Each of these modes awards you with experience and currency that you can spend to improve your deck for your eventual jump to PvP modes. ?Unlike other card games, Deckstorm has other ways of acquiring cards besides purchasing packs. Certain cards you encounter while playing have a chance to be “captured” each match. The odds start off low, but the more you run into the card the higher your chances of acquiring it become. Run into it enough times, and the capture chance will eventually hit 100%. This?eases some of the frustration when you?re trying to acquire some key cards for your deck. It also encourages?you to keep playing in the hopes of seeing the card again.

You still have to be connected to the Internet to play single player, but the game can save your progress mid-match. This is perfect if you?re in an area with spotty cell service but still want to get your card game fix. We all know how frustrating it can be to disconnect in the middle of a PvP match in other card games, so having some solid single player is always a good thing.

To top it all off, Deckstorm matches are designed to last just five minutes or less, making it perfect for playing while on the go. So the next time you find yourself in need of some strategic gameplay why not give it a shot??

ERRATUM: A previous version of this article mentioned that Deckstorm guaranteed “a legendary a day.” This statement is erroneous. A legendary card is only guaranteed after the tutorial portion of the game. We apologize for the confusion.
