The recent update to Clash Royale introduced a lot of new things to the game. There were a few nerfs and tweaks as well as new cards coming every two weeks. Perhaps the biggest addition to Supercell?s instant hit is the new Challenge Mode. The new mode allows players to get a few Gold and Cards at the expense of Gems. However, a few players are reporting that the Clash Royale Challenge Mode is broken at the moment.

Terrible Matchmaking

When in Challenge Mode, players are pitted against players that are supposedly equal to their skill level. It?s a fair system as both Challenge Modes reward players based on their wins or until they lose three times. However, players are reporting that they are being pitted against others who are obviously in a different level as them.

Some Arena 8 players are being pitted against other Arena 8 players, but with higher level cards. Most of the players even carry several Legendaries like Sparky and the Princess. Most of the time, it?s basically impossible to beat these players because their cards are just too powerful.

It wouldn?t be much of a bother if the Clash Royale Challenge Mode is free, but it isn?t. Classic challenges require a fee of 10 Gems. Grand challenges, on the other hand, require 100 Gems.

At this rate, only top-tier players will be able to get the most out of the new Challenge Mode. For now, it might not be recommended for players with mid-level cards to take up the Grand Challenge.

Some have speculated that dropping down to a lower trophy count could make the new Clash Royale Challenge Mode easier. However, a Redditor has discovered just how the matchmaking works. It?s a hidden MMR that doesn?t take note of how much trophy the player has.
