Christina Grimmie, a YouTube star, was thrust into the spotlight in 2014, when she did the blind auditions of The Voice Season 6 with an impressive rendition of the Miley Cyrus hit ?Wrecking Ball.? All four judges?Adam Levine, Shakira, Usher, and Blake Shelton?turned their chairs. Christina chose Adam Levine as her vocal coach.
Even though she placed third in the finale (Josh Kaufman of Team Usher won the top prize), Christina was offered by her coach Adam Levine to sign a record deal with his 222 Records. Rapper Lil Wayne also expressed his interest to tap the services of the young talent for his Young Money Entertainment. Christina eventually signed with Island Records, the major record label behind the albums of Demi Lovato, Nick Jonas, Bon Jovi, Leona Lewis, and many other big artists.
