Chris Rock?s joke on Jada Pinkett-Smith finally got an answer. The comedian spoke about The Nutty Professor actress as her actor-husband Will Smith was not nominated for 2016 Oscars.
According to US Weekly, Chris Rock had made a joke during the event about Pinkett-Smith. “Jada said she’s not coming. I was like, ‘Isn’t she on a TV show?’ Jada’s gonna boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited!” he said.
The Oscar host also talked about Will Smith?s role in Concussion. The 51-year old actor said, ?It’s not fair that Will was this good and didn’t get nominated. You’re right. It’s also not fair that Will was paid $20 million for Wild Wild West!”
Mrs. Smith was one of the few people who voiced their concern about lack of diversity and hence boycotted the Oscars. Recently on March 5, the 44-year old actress was spotted along with her 15-year old daughter Willow while making her way through the Los Angeles International Airport where she publically commented for the first time on Rock?s Oscar comments towards her. According to E! Online, she told the reporters, that there were more important things in life that need to be addressed and one has to just move on.
?It comes with the territory, sweetheart. Hey look, it comes with the territory but we gotta keep it moving. We gotta keep it moving. We gotta keep it moving. There?s a lot of stuff we gotta handle, a lot of stuff in our world right now. We gotta keep it moving,? she said.
According to our previous reports, Pinkett took to Twitter to publicly share what she strongly felt when Oscar?s nominations did not include people of color.
It was heard that the disappointment of Pinkett-Smith was likely due to lack of a nomination for her husband, Will Smith, for any individual award, despite the fact that he got a Golden Globe nod for his portrayal of Dr. Bennet Omalu in Concussion. Viewers will continue to see her as Fish Mooney in the American crime-drama television series Gotham that airs on CTV and Fox.
