Recent years have been about controversy and legal struggles for CeeLo Green but the Gnarls Barkley singer is gearing up for his comeback with a new album set to be released next month.
The singer has been accused of slipping ecstasy into his dinner date?s drink back in 2012 and pleaded no contest. He also faced rape charges for the same alleged incident, which were subsequently dropped due to lack of evidence. In an interview with the Associated Press, the singer shared that his struggles served as his inspiration for his upcoming ?Heart Blanche? album.
“I feel really strong and really confident about this album and going forward,” he said in the same interview. “And I’m so grateful that you yourself, and everyone who just may happen to witness this particular interview, have my deepest, sincerest apologies for any inconvenience, any ignorance, any ill will, anything. I’m just glad that it’s behind me now. I’m so glad for it,” he added.
The former Voice coach recently revealed a new single entitled ?Mother May I?, a slow R&B track produced by Mark Ronson. This is his follow up to ?Robin Williams?, a tribute song to the late actor released back in July.
Green left the reality talent series The Voice last year but has expressed his desire to come back to the show, saying he ?would love to do it again.? Aside from his hopes of returning to TV, the musician wants to prioritize his re-acquaintance with the music community.
“I’m glad and very fortunate for yet another opportunity to be myself and be creative, and be embraced unconditionally by so many loving people,” he said. “You’re going to hear a revelation, an epiphany of new understanding and a new lease on life, personally and professionally, on this album.”
?Heart Blanche? is due out on November 6.
