The gaming community is on the prowl for more details on the next Call of Duty after Activision itself revealed that the game is going to be set in the 2nd World War. Details are pretty scarce on the next Call of Duty game, but many are already comparing it to Battlefield 1. When it comes to Call of Duty WW2, Activision already has a bar set for it.

Fans of the Call of Duty franchise have been waiting for the developers to stop with the futuristic setting for a while now. EA DICE made the transition first with Battlefield 1 being set in the first World War. DICE’s most recent entry in the Battlefield series was a success and Call of Duty WW2 should learn a thing or two from it.

The Story

One of the things that really made Battlefield 1 one of the best games of 2016 was the story mode. Despite being short, the game’s campaign was riveting and it was a good take on the first World War. Being able to play from multiple perspectives also added more diversity to the campaign mode.

Shortly after the announcement that the next Call of Duty game will be set in the 2nd World War, a leak was made regarding a few of the game’s details. Industry insider Daniel Ahmad shared a screenshot of a document showing details about the game. For the story, there’s a chance that Activision will indeed introduce multiple point of views as well and it could also be a dramatic story at that.

As Simple As It Gets

Battlefield 1 was a pretty simple shooter even when it comes to the game’s multiplayer mode. There weren’t any odd mechanics and it was just a standard shooter set in the past. When it comes to multiplayer, Call of Duty WW2 should do away with over the top weaponry and character skins like in the previous entries. It would certainly ruin the World War 2 vibe that the game is set out to bring.

Something Unique

DICE mastered huge battles and environment destruction in Battlefield 1 and it has become one of the unique features of the game. However, it seems that Activision has already learned from this and is already adding something unique to Call of Duty WW2. In the same leak, it was revealed that players will be able to enjoy a co-op mode that is separate from the main campaign.
