Call Of Duty Black Ops 3 Ending: Theories On What Really Happened To Your Protagonist And Taylor (Spoilers)

By on

Were you dumbfounded after you saw the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 ending? I was. If you were dumbfounded like me, prepare yourself to feel woozier as there are a lot of ways to interpret the main campaign mode?s ending. Here are some of our theories on what the Call of Duty Black Ops 3 ending can actually mean. (Spoilers below)

Literal Understanding

After the protagonist shoots Hendricks and kills himself/herself, the protagonist is transported to a crazy nightmare-like experience where he/she tries to purge the ?defective? AI named Corvus?with the help of Taylor. You?ll engage in firefights in locales you?ve already been to until your protagonist successfully shuts down Corvus.

But the player actually isn?t actually successful in destroying Corvus as the consciousness of both Taylor and Corvus merge. This joined consciousness then fuses with the protagonist. Hence, the reason why the protagonist refers to himself/herself as Taylor in the ending.

We?re unsure if the player is actually successful in committing suicide before entering the dream sequence. Another possibility why the player is still able to awaken in real life is because Corvus might have interrupted the player from killing himself/herself.

Inception Ending

The protagonist might actually just be dreaming. In mission 2, Taylor and other soldiers teaches the protagonist how to utilize their new DNI abilities. The only real thing that might have happened is mission 1 while the rest are just training sequences (or nightmares?) for the character.

Fight Club Ending

You might be playing as Taylor all along with the character fooling themselves that they were someone else. You might be relieving Taylor?s missions in a dream induced state reconstructed by the DNI.
