Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are at it again. Right after teasing Outlander fans by appearing to be very flirtatious with each other on some BTS photos, the two made playful exchanges again. This time, Cait tweeted a painful facial injury she got on the final day of Outlander Season 3 filming and she revealed that her flame-haired co-star had something to do about it.

Cait, who plays Claire on the show, shared: “Real reason they leave stunts until the last day..incase @SamHeughan steers you into a log.. #facefirst #stillOuch,” to which Sam jokingly replied “Or… One could say that was “perfect” aim!!!?”

Of course, our favorite girl got back at him, making fun of his Violet singlet.

Remember the photo we previously reported about, which sees the two of them cheers-ing beer together in a pool? Well, Sam’s outfit had some people amused, including Grant O’Rouke aka Rupert MacKenzie who said he’d like to have one too. Sly Cait took a jab at Sam, asking Grant whether he was talking about the pool.

Production Wraps

The cast and crew of Outlander have been filming for months on different locations, including the streets of Edinburgh. In the last two months, they’ve also been in Cape Town, South Africa, filming the final episodes of the new season. Cape Town is standing in for Jamaica, which will play a major part in Jamie and Claire’s adventures in the latter part of Season 3.

Outlander executive producer Ronald D. Moore teased what it was like for the cast and crew to film at South Africa. Speaking at the ATX Television Festival in Austin, Texas, last week, he said the new location gave a “different vibe” to the production which he said was great. “You felt a different energy on the set because they were somewhere else.”

He also said that the sunny location was a refreshing change everyone in the production embraced with open arms. “It’s a very different place,” he continued. “It’s completely different from Scotland. You can see all the people, all the Scots in the crew, were out like baking in the sun and getting sunburned because they were just so in love with seeing the sun for a change.”

Countdown to Season 3 Begins

We won’t be seeing new Outlander episodes until this fall. But the team assures fans are in for a completely different and exciting experience. We’ll be seeing Jaime and Claire long awaited reunion and the adventures that await them. We’re in the shadows on what exactly those are but as mentioned earlier, they’ll be moving away from Scotland and to new places.

“It’s going to go to sea, it’s going to end up in the Caribbean,” Moore shared. “It’s gonna look and feel completely different and advances the story dramatically, so I’m just excited that once again, the show is evolving and sort of ever changing.”

Outlander Season 3 will be based on Voyager, the third novel in Diana Gabaldon’s book series. The story will pick up immediately after Claire travels back through the stones back to her life in 1948 and then follow the couple as they attempt to live their lives apart, separated by time. There will be some changes to the order of events, but all major ones from the book are still happening in the show, per Moore.

“One of the things we wanted to do was talk about what Claire was doing in those 20 years as well,” he said in a previous interview. “The way we’ve structured the season allows you to experience both [Jamie and Claire’s lives] at the same time.”

Outlander is scheduled to return with the whole of its 13 episodes this September. Are you excited? We’d like to hear what your expectations are for the series’ third run. Leave your comments below.
