I Am Cait has been cancelled on E! after two seasons following Caitlyn Jenner?s life as a transgender woman. The reason for cancellation is due to its low ratings despite Caitlyn, formerly gold medal Olympian Bruce Jenner, making headlines all around the world when she proclaimed, ?I am a woman.?
Jenner?s journey as a transgender woman created a lot of buzz globally yet her popularity never caught on in the E! reality show?s ratings. According to The Washington Post, the show garnered 1.4 million viewers every week in the first run, but viewership significantly dropped in the second season with only less than a million every week.
What mostly drew viewers to the show are appearances by the Kardashian family who showed up briefly in the premiere, including Kim Kardashian?s hubby, Kanye West. The plotlines that followed featured Jenner?s new circle of friends who weren?t as popular as the ratings-magnet Kardashians.
A representative from E! said in a statement, ?We are incredibly proud of the two seasons of ?I Am Cait,? a groundbreaking docu-series that sparked an important and unprecedented global conversation about transgender people, their struggles and triumphs.?
The rep continued, ?Caitlyn and E! have mutually decided not to move forward with another season at this time? we look forward to continue following her journey as she appears on ?Keeping Up with the Kardashians.??
Jenner starred on E!?s flagship reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians for years and it appears that she will be continuing on in the long-running reality series after the cancellation of her show.
She took to Twitter on Tuesday to express her gratitude to her supporters and E! for giving her a chance to take the stage and represent transgender people. ?After 2 amazing seasons of @IAmCait, it?s time for the next adventure,? she wrote. ?Thank you E! & thank you to the best girlfriends I could ask for!?
I Am Cait debuted in July 2015 after Jenner?s famous interview with Diane Sawyer wherein Bruce Jenner told the whole world, ?For all intents and purposes, I am a woman.?
