Studio Ghibli fans are going nuts over the news about Hayao Miyazaki. Another beautiful anime masterpiece will be unfolding in the near future. Get ready to fall in love with his works once again with ?Kemushi no Boro? (Boro the Caterpillar).
During one television special show called ?The Man Who is Not Done: Hayao Miyazaki,? there was a reveal that the director will be coming out of his hiatus for the third time. Usually, when he does this, a classic movie is born. True enough, he will be making his last movie and it will be called ?Boro the Caterpillar.?
Miyazaki?s new project started out as a CGI short story for the Studio Ghibli Museum. But the director found something special and made it into a movie. This idea has been in production for 20 years and is still ongoing.
There is surely something about Boro the Caterpillar that seems to have tickled the fancy of the director. The story will revolve around a caterpillar. ?It is a tale of a very tiny, hairy caterpillar, so tiny that it may be easily squished between your fingers,? as stated by Miyazaki.
As stated above, Boro the Caterpillar is his third comeback piece and probably his last. With such anticipation and hype, this movie will have some big shoes to fill in. Its predecessors were ?Princess Mononoke? (Miyazaki?s first ?out of retirement? movie) in 1997 and ?The Wind Rises? (Miyazaki?s second movie) in 2013.
But are the fans willing to do what it takes to see this so-called ?movie?? There is a possibility that Miyazaki’s upcoming film?will just be a 10-minute long movie. Plus, the movie will only be shown in the confines of the Ghibli Museum, but these are just hearsays with no validity. Let us just hope that this will be a long playing movie that can reach the fanbase worldwide.
If all preparations and planning will go as scheduled, Boro the Caterpillar will finally be revealed to the fans in three more years. Reports have stated that Miyazaki is doing storyboards nonstop so that it can be finalized as soon as possible, if ever something might happen to the director.
Boro the Caterpillar?is scheduled for 2019. Until then, let us all wait in anticipation for another masterpiece from the legendary Hayao Miyazaki.
