Recently, Gearbox Software updated Battleborn with a new hero. It?s possible that Gearbox Software may be busy with sustaining their online game that it cannot focus on developing Borderlands 3. Is Gearbox?s hit RPG still coming out?
Recently, Gearbox Software released the new character named Ernest in Battleborn. The game has received a new character despite its low population count. Perhaps Gearbox may want to continue improving their MOBA-FPS game to successfully compete with its competitors. Blizzard Entertainment?s Overwatch release is said to be one of the reasons for Battleborn?s low population.
If Gearbox intends to improve Battleborn, it may take a longer time to recover as they?ll have to balance the game?s content continuously since it is a competitive online game. The game studio won?t be able to focus completely on making their next Borderlands game. So far, the Borderlands series has been more successful than Battleborn.
Despite Gearbox?s focus on Battleborn, they confirmed at Pax East earlier this year that they?re going to make Borderlands 3. According to Eurogamer, Gearbox CEO and president Randy Pitchford said, ?It?s no secret, obviously there?s going to be another Borderlands.?
Gearbox is also considering to call it ?Borderlands 4,? as Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel was its third entry despite it being a prequel to the game series. However, Gearbox didn?t give any release date or scheduled public beta testing for Borderlands 3.
Gearbox certainly has too many content to work on for Borderlands 3 due to the endings of the previous entries. At the end of Borderlands 2, the main characters discovered some sort of galaxy map of active vaults on other solar systems, which could mean a larger game world to play. Meanwhile, the ending of Borderlands The Pre Sequel hints of a massive team-up of living Vault Hunters to prepare for a war. This was hinted by The Watcher who saved Athena from being executed in the game.
Additionally, characters from the Tales from the Borderlands could also join the fight and enrich the franchise?s lore. However, fans may also enjoy Borderlands 3 more if the studio includes fresh new ideas in the game instead of always building off existing systems.
