This cult following has waited seven long years for the third installment, and now, cult or not, The Boondock Saints 3 is finally in the works. The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus confirmed this news himself.
For those unfamiliar with the plot, The Boondock Saints talks about the story of two fraternal twins who take matters into their own hands when solving crimes in their own hometown. The original film hit theatres back in 1999. Unfortunately, it didn’t enjoy the massive reception its sequel got. It starred Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead) was Murphy McManus and Sean Patrick Flanery is his twin brother, Connor McManus.
The sequel released in 2009 was both commercially and critically acclaimed. Not long after, it made massive revenues with its home video sales. The Boondock Saints soon developed a cult following who have been patiently waiting for the long awaited movie sequel. The third installment is expected to make it even bigger especially with the kind of exposure The Walking Dead star Norman Reedus is going to put in the film. But overall, it’s just a bunch of highly talented and creative individuals on and off cam that make this unusual project tick. And the people love it!
Cast News and Rumors
The third sequel is entitled The Boondock Saints 3: Legion. It used to be that Brad Pitt was supposed to be considered for the lead role but director Troy Duffy had reservations because he had just recently played an Irish man in another film.
Meanwhile, iTechPost stated that both Ethan Hawke and Keanu Reeves were also eyeing the lead roles but were not considered by Duff. So Reedus and Flanery are expected to reprise their roles as twins. Reports say the actors and director have had talks about the upcoming film since 2013.
