A 12-year-old pooch that fell from an 11-story balcony amazingly survived and is now being hailed as a ?miracle dog.? Veterinarians say the 22-pound Pekingese Bonzo is doing well after a fall of ?at least 120 feet? from a balcony in South Florida, reported by ABC News.
Kimberly Bellinger paid a visit to her mom?s home in West Palm Beach from New York together with Bonzo when the dog made a 120-foot fall. Bonzo apparently had enough time to prepare for the impact and surprisingly came out alive.
?I went out to the balcony and I didn?t see him there. I looked over the edge of the balcony and I saw his little body laying there on the grass all the way down,? Bellinger told ABC News. ?I was completely hysterical. I thought he was dead.?
Bellinger went down to look for a dog that was still alive and she immediately took the dog to Palm Beach Veterinary Specialist. Dr. Ellen Gray, the veterinarian in charge of the pooch, assessed his injuries and indicated that he only had one broken rib. The dog was given sedatives and sent to the oxygen chamber for treatment and went home five days later.
?It?s incredible that Bonzo survived, especially in light of his pre-existing orthopedic, neurologic and cardiac diseases,? Veterinarian Dr. Ellen Gray explained. ?I have never seen an animal survive after a fall from such a great height. I am so happy that he could return to the loving home of the Bellinger family.?
The miracle dog?is now with Bellinger happy to be alive still ?walking around, giving kisses, snuggling and begging for snacks like he used to,? according to ABC News. ?I?m so grateful I?ve been given another chance for me to give him as much love as possible and for him to receive as much love as he deserves,? Bellinger said, thankful for more time with Bonzo.
