Fox is excited to present its fans the most unusual crossover episode ever, and viewers are itching to see how the Bones-Sleepy Hollow crossover it will turn out. Since the announcement of the odd pairing was announced, no other details have been revealed in the melding of the plots, until now.
During the 2015 Television Critics Association summer press tour, Fox reps shared via TV Line a plausible plot:
?On Bones, the grisly discovery of human remains lead Brennan and Booth on a hunt for clues, during which they encounter Ichabod Crane and Abbie Mills, searching for answers of their own. Realizing that they are after the same evidence, they team up to solve the mystery.?Then, immediately following on Sleepy Hollow, the intrigue continues as Ichabod?s old nemesis is back from the dead. Ichabod and Abbie need advanced forensic help and expertise to stop him and turn to Brennan and Booth to unlock 18th century secrets using 21st century science.?
Come to think of it, the plot line KIND OF makes sense, but it doesn?t remove the oddity of why Fox would combine a pure science, buddy cop show like Bones with a highly fantastical series like Sleepy Hallow.
Of this, Bones producer Michael Peterson has this to say in an article in Screen Rant:
??The?Bones/Sleepy?Hollow?crossover is like a great episode of The X-Files, where the Bones?hour is the Scully, logic-based perspective and the Sleepy Hollow?hour is more Fox Mulder-esque. Put them together, and it?s going to be a great two-hour event that fans of both programs are going to love.?
Huh. Well I guess conspiracy theories and factual Science can coincide after all, but that was X-Files and these are two of Fox? notably fumbling shows which used to rate really high on the viewer scale.
So is the two-hour special a last ditch effort to save both series? Maybe. One thing is for sure though ? both Bones and Sleepy Hollow have something lacking to gain viewers loyalty once again, and this might just be the answer to address that. That and add to the fact that the two shows have similar premises: Mystery, intrigue and methodical deduction, and strong character partnerships, which both shows have successfully banked on in the past.
So how will Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie) work out the unbelievable details of a case with the precise Science of Dr. Temperance Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Seely Booth?s (David Boreanaz) methods? Your guess is as good as mine ? but I?m watching!
Bones/Sleepy Hollow?will join forces during a?two-part crossover event airing October 29th, 2016 on Fox.
