Perhaps one of the most talked about mobile device of 2017, apart from the Samsung Galaxy S8, is the iPhone 8. So far, there have been numerous reports about the tenth anniversary iPhone’s specifications, and along with it, its price. However, a new report that has recently surfaced seemed more confusing rather than being helpful.
According to a recent report from Bloomberg, Apple is concurrently testing a number of iPhone 8 prototypes. These prototypes have varying hardware specs including the display, camera, and phone build.
One of the prototypes mentioned has a stainless steel frame with a slightly curved front and back glass cover. The display itself, the report said, is flat. However, the glass that covers the display panel will have slightly curved edges instead.
Another prototype, however, is said to have the dual rear cameras mounted vertically instead of horizontally. According to the source, this new arrangement will result in a much better image quality on the iPhone 8.
If that is not confusing enough, another prototype seems to have the fingerprint sensor mounted on the back. It would seem that Apple’s suppliers are still having issues merging the sensor and the display together, as reported earlier.
With all these different versions of the phone, it is now quite difficult to confirm which hardware features the iPhone 8 will have. Right now, bets are against the display mounted fingerprint sensor due to manufacturing complications.
Other reports suggest that Apple will delay the phone’s release until it is certain that the fingerprint sensor behind the display will work. Meanwhile, others are saying that Apple might be forced to release the iPhone 8 prematurely due to pressure caused by the Galaxy S8.
With all these confusing reports, the only thing that the Bloomberg article confirmed is iOS 11 on the iPhone 8. It has been known for a while that Apple intends to release the upcoming major iOS update on the tenth anniversary iPhone.
With all that said, it is really quite hard to tell now which features the iPhone 8 will include. For more updates on the iPhone 8, be sure to check us out at TheBitbag.
