After years of struggling, Blackberry finally threw in the towel and announced that it will no longer make phones. Due to the poor reception since the introduction of the iPhone, Blackberry decided to close down its hardware design lab. However, the company?s CEO made it clear that the brand is still very much alive. After months of waiting, Blackberry is finally ready to come out again and try its luck in the smartphone market. According to a recent leak, the upcoming Blackberry phone, dubbed “Mercury” is coming to next year?s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). In addition to this, the phone – also known as DTEK70 – will be distributed by Verizon in the U.S., exclusively.
German leaker Roland Quandt posted a message on his Twitter account confirming the availability of Blackberry Mercury in the U.S. under Verizon. Following the thread of conversations, some users confirmed that the phone will come at the CES event in Las Vegas.
Quandt also confirmed some major design details regarding the rumored Blackberry smartphone.

In another one of his posts, Quandt confirmed that the Blackberry Mercury will sport a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor. While it may not be as impressive as the Snapdragon 835, this chip boasts decent performance compared to its predecessors. Also, the processor features impressive power efficiency that enables it to operate for longer periods of time. According to Quandt, paired with a decent sized battery, the Blackberry Mercury phone will last for days on a single charge.
Can confirm: Blackberry Mercury (BBB100) really has a Snapdragon 625 so battery life should be amazing if they fit in a half decent battery.
