Black Butler Movie Set to Premiere on January 2017; See Trailer

Our favorite demon butler, Sebastian Michaelis, is back for another thriller adventure film with Ciel Phantomhive. Kuroshitsuji: Book of the Atlantic / Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic is set to screen in theaters on January 21, 2017.

Aniplex released the first trailer for the said film featuring Kuroshitsuji manga creator Yana Toboso?s first visuals. The animation art is still in dark-eerie pantone but with very vibrant character design – as expected from the Chief Animation Director Minako Shiba, who is also in charge of the film?s character design.

Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic will follow the manga?s sixth arc, Luxury Liner, which are the 11th – 14th volume of Kuroshitsuji Manga.

The story is set in April 1889, when Ciel Phantomhive, along with his servants, Sebastian and Snake, board a luxury ship called Campania to investigate an illegal human experimentation. These experiments were said to be bringing the dead back to life but it seems they don?t come back as humans. Alongside the Midford family, Ciel will try to uncover the secrets of resurrecting the dead and this Aurora Society and their suspicious doctor.

Since its debut in 2006, Kuroshitsuji / Black Butler has had three seasons of anime, one live-action film, and a two-part OVA. The animated tv series had an original storyline and was not a direct manga adaptation.
