Angry Birds, the “fastest growing brand? with the user base totaling the equivalent of Twitter users, proved that mobile games are truly profitable as it raked over 3 billion downloads, filled the market with products, and will soon hit?the big screen with an animated Angry Birds movie next year.
Angry Birds have already released tons of games in its name. These include the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Friends, Angry Birds Space, Bad Piggies, Angry Birds Star Wars, Angry Birds Star Wars II, Angry Birds Epic, Angry Birds Stella, Angry Birds Transformers, Angry Birds Stella POP! Angry Birds Fight!, and the soon to be released Angry Birds Under Pigstruction.
After a slew of titles under its belt, Rovio today has announced Angry Birds 2, a true sequel to the franchise, which claims to be ?Bigger, Badder, Birdier?. It will be released this July 30 on unannounced platforms, but it would be safe to assume that it would come to Android and iOS.
Another announcement came in a promotional poster that said further details on Angry Birds 2 will be detailed in an event on July 28 in San Francisco.
The announcement of the game came as the merchandise sector of Angry Birds reportedly received lesser profits by 72% in 2014. The products include t-shirts, plushies, collectibles, and many others. The first numbered sequel to Angry birds might be seen as a move to boost again their sales.
A TV show and a movie was also said to address their sales. An?animated movie with a well-regarded cast is on its way to the big screen in April 2016 and will be directed by supervising animator of Bolt and Tangled, Clay Kaytis, and storyboard artist for Space Jam and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, Fegal Reilly. The cast includes Peter Dinklage, Maya Rudolph, Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Danny McBride, Bill Harder, and Maya Rudolph.
