Fans of the TV series “The Big Bang Theory” will definitely rejoice after reading this report. CBS recently announced that they will be renewing the show for two more seasons. As the network finalizes the negotiations with the actors, here are the things you need to know about the upcoming installments.
The announcement arrived during the fourth quarter earning call of the network on Wednesday. CEO Leslie Moonves confirmed to the media that they are “very, very close” to the renewal of the show. Huffington Post reported that the company and the actors are already finalizing an agreement and the official announcement may come any time soon.
“We have established hits including the number one drama ‘NCIS,’ and the number one comedy ‘The Big Bang Theory’–which, by the way, we are very very close to renewing for two more years,” Moonves announced. Although he did not disclose as to when the show will be back on air, it is certainly great news for the fans.
“The Big Bang Theory” Comeback Contract
According to Deadline, the original five cast members will be present in the next two season. Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, Kaley Cuoco, Simon Helberg and Kunal Nayyar are now finalizing their contracts. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly between CBS and Warner Bros. TV for the show to return for Seasons 11 and 12.
With regards to the actors’ salary, Deadline also noted that this time, all five of them will have equal pay at around $1 million per episode. During the previous installments, Parsons, Galecki and Cuoco demanded for an equal pay together. On this new contract, Helberg and Nayyar will have the same paycheck as their co-stars. Lastly, other returning actors like Melissa Rauch and Mayim Bialik will as well have major pay raises.
Meanwhile, the plot of the upcoming seasons is yet to be revealed. But, according to Huffington Post, it could feature a prequel of Sheldon’s younger years. It can be recalled that CBS has been planning that storyline for quite some time already so let us wait and see if this would come to reality.
As of this writing, CBS has only announced the finalization of the agreement. The release date and plot, on the other hand, are yet to be revealed.
