Battle Chasers: Nightwar was announced last year as a Kickstarter project, which was quickly funded. Thanks to fan support, the game will now be coming out to a number of platforms, including PS4, Xbox One, Windows PC and Mac. Slated for a release later this year, the developers in Airship Syndicate have released a new trailer showing off more gameplay.
One thing particularly noteworthy about the trailer is the visuals, which is clearly based on the art style of Darksiders? co-founder Joe Madureira. Prior to making Darksiders, Madureira, or Joe Mad, made his name by drawing a number of comic books in the late 1990s, most notably in Uncanny X-Men and Battle Chasers, with the former being the basis of the Nightwar video game.
There is plenty of gameplay in the new Battle Chasers: Nightwar trailer, which should please fans who?ve supported the game. It seems like Nightwar has mixed up gameplay elements from the older Final Fantasy games with a hint of Diablo, due to the trap-filled dungeons and isometric view.
Nightwar will have a turn-based battle system that is fairly reminiscent of the older Final Fantasy games. The game also picked up a few things from the more recent Tales Of titles, as enemies can be seen and attacked, instead of a random battle that comes out of nowhere.
Nordic Games, the new owner of the Darksiders series, has formed a partnership with Battle Chasers developer Airship Syndicate to help the game reach some of its stretch goals from Kickstarter. According to the game?s page, Nightwar will now have full voice acting and more cutscenes.
In addition to the extra funding, Nordic Games will be publishing the game as well as marketing and localizing it, according to WCCFTech. This will allow the developers in Airship Syndicate to continue working on the game, which seems like an ideal business relationship.
Currently there is no official release date for Battle Chasers: Nightwar, though it is solicited for a 2016 release.
