Australia, Canada, UK to receive Facebook’s Premium Video Ads and Improved Video Metrics

Facebook has announced two enhancements to the video offering on Facebook – Premium Video Ads and improved video metrics.

?Starting today, we?re introducing these ads [Premium Video Ads and improved video metrics] with a limited group of advertisers in select international markets, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the United Kingdom.?

Facebook said that Premium Video Ads are actually designed for advertisers who want to reach a large audience with high-quality sight, sound and motion. With Premium Video Ads, advertisers and their brands are more exposed now to people on Facebook with the help the compelling video.

In the official announcement from the company, Facebook Business explained that each 15-second video ad will start playing without sound as it appears on screen and stops if people scroll past. If people tap the video, it will expand into a full-screen view and sound will start.

Facebook Business promised that they will roll out the Premium Video Ads slowly and monitor how people interact with them in order to enhance the service more. The company said that with this kind of limited implementation (for now) it will surely be of great help for them to discover more of what they can offer to advertisers with high-quality campaigns for the best possible experience on Facebook.

Meanwhile, with the video metrics, Facebook Business said, ?With the goal of helping you better understand how people respond to your videos on Facebook, we?re also rolling out new video metrics globally in Page Insights and Ads Reporting for all videos uploaded to Facebook.?

The new metrics which is set to roll out over the coming weeks will provide information like video views, unique video views, the average duration of the video view and audience retention. Facebook said that these new metrics are designed to help the user learn more about their audience and to help them create and promote videos on Facebook more effectively.

The new video metrics will be available for all paid and organic videos uploaded directly to Facebook Pages, including Premium Video Ads.


It could be remembered that last March, Facebook unveiled the Premium Video Ads in order for advertisers to drive branding objectives on Facebook. The company said that these new improvements will begin over the next few months.
