Gaming laptops are slowly becoming mainstream nowadays. For a gamer on-the-go, they are quite handy at times as it allows them to take their gaming anywhere. Unfortunately, with all the necessary cooling and power requirements, they tend to be on the heavy side. Not only that, common builds are quite bulky too. Good thing there is the ASUS ROG Zephyrus, an ultra-slim gaming laptop equipped with NVIDIA GTX 1080 Max-Q.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus comes in two slightly different models: the GX501VS and GX501VI. The GX501VI comes with the NVIDIA GTC 1080 while its little brother, the GX501VS is equipped with the GTX 1070 GPU. Both gaming laptops will sport the seventh generation Intel processor, the i7-7700HQ.
System RAM can be ramped up to 24GB while running at 2400MHz. As for storage, options start from 256GB to 1TB of PCIe NVMe flash storage.
Since ASUS is also quite serious about Thunderbolt, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus is equipped with one Thunderbolt 3.0 port using a USB Type-C interface. There is also an HDMI 2.0 port, 3.5mm headphone jack, and four USB 3.0 ports.
The 15.5-inch display features a resolution of 1920x1080p and refresh rate of 120Hz. ASUS claims that the display itself if capable of reproducing 100 percent of sRGB color space.
With the graphics card and the display interface, users can do VR gaming on this rig without it breaking a sweat.
The other selling point of this massive laptop is its weight and dimensions. Weighing at only 2.2kg, it only slightly heavier than the MacBook Pro. However, compared with other gaming laptops out there, the ASUS ROG Zephyrus is the lightest. As for dimensions, never mind the width and depth, what matters is the height of the laptop. The Zephyrus stands at only 16.9mm.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus will hit store shelves by the end of June. Price for the GX501VI starts at $2,699. Meanwhile the GX501VS starts at $2,299. For more tech updates, be sure to check us out at TheBitbag.
