It?s Aston Villa vs. Tottenham live at the Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England Monday at 4PM (12PM EST), but the hosts are predicted to lose as they go down further with a bang in the Premier League. One has only to listen to Villa?s boss Remi Garde to feel their pain: ?We can survive. If you look at Leicester last season they started to win now – won seven, drew one and lost one. Why can’t we do that??
That is not the sound of confidence, but of dread, as the Birmingham-based club faces a well-placed Tottenham, which have won seven of their last eight matches with Aston. Meantime, Villa have lost seven matches in a row early in the season and at rock bottom in league standings.
Making matters worse, Aston are hounded by injury with midfielder/forwarder Adama Traore expected to be still out of the game along with Libor Kozak, Jack Grealish, and Carlos Sanchez. On the other hand, Dele Alli and Eric Dier are expected to return for Tottenham in time for the Birmingham match. Only Jan Vertonghenand and Clinton Njie are not expected to play for Tottenham.
The team is entering a critical period in the League after suffering a home draw against an undermanned Arsenal last March 5. With their momentum stalled, the match against Villa may just be the boost Tottenham needs to get back its bearing.
BBC Sports? Mark Lawrenson predicts that Tottenham will win 0-2 on Monday, believing that Villa isn?t the team for Garde.
