Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs 2 is now available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. So far, the game is getting good early impressions from reviewers, and it seems like the sequel will do better than the original game. A?few players have already gotten their hands on an early copy of the?game and they have revealed some interesting finds. Ubisoft may have slyly?confirmed that the next Assassin?s Creed game is indeed?Assassin?s Creed Empire.
The fictional version of San Francisco in Watchdogs 2 is beautifully made and filled with Easter Eggs. Even Ubisoft itself makes an appearance in the game. Kotaku reports that if players are clever enough, they?ll start a mission called ?Ubistolen,? which is a call out to numerous leaks from Ubisoft?s games.
While at Stanford University, players will come across a Ubisoft staffer. Hacking his phone will allow players to listen to a conversation. The topic is about how the next game from Ubisoft might get subjected leaks, and the staff should exert extra effort in keeping it under wraps. While intercepting the call, players will hear??After what happened with Unity, Syndicate, Osiris???
A few die-hard fans of the series might remember Osiris as a leaked project back in 2013. The next Assassin’s Creed game is rumored to be set in Egypt. Since we’ve yet to get an Assassin’s Creed set in ancient Egypt since 2013, it’s possible that Osiris might be the codename for Empire.
Upon getting the phone call, Marcus, the lead character, will talk to Wrench. This will then initiate the ?Ubistolen? mission. Marcus will be required to get into Ubisoft?s studios to steal a trailer.?
Why It’s Not a Space Game
The trailer itself is obviously sci-fi themed and doesn’t look to be a game set in the Assassin?s Creed universe. However, based on the conversation before the mission, it?s likely that the trailer is for an Assassin?s Creed title.
The next Assassin?s Creed game is rumored to be set in ancient Egypt with Assassin?s Creed Empire as its title. While the in-game trailer sports a sci-fi theme, the Assassin?s Creed series isn?t a stranger to switching between ancient and modern settings. It could be possible that the animus user is in space this time or Ubisoft could just be teasing an entirely new game as well.
