The Asia Pop Comicon Manila 2016 kicks off today with a series of fun event programs and in-booth games and specials. We are glad to have attended Day 1 without the bulk of the chaotic crowd that will surely march in on day 2 and 3. This gave us a chance to talk to exhibitors and guest artists.
The SMX Convention Center Manila was transformed into a festive venue filled with toy collector exhibits, comic book artists, cosplayers, video gaming booths, a few monster trucks, and sumptuous food stalls. You?ll definitely find something interesting in every corner. Keep away from the selling area if you?re not planning on breaking your budget. It was really hard to ignore all the discounted goodies and hard-to-find collectibles.
At the Walk-Of-Fame, we met Cosplay celebrities such as Yugana Senshi Uon, Riddle, Lindze Merritt and Ani Mia. All were kind enough to pose for a photo at their respective booths. Also in this area, are world famous Comic Artists such as Jason Palmer, Ken Lashley and Whilce Portacio, to name a few. Fans line up to purchase signed art works and prints from these celebs.
A very cool Simone Legno, creative director of tokidoki, treated his fans by fun signing and doodling on DIY tokidoki items. Catch another signing session from Legno on Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.
Asia Pop Comicon Manila 2016 will be very busy in the next two days as Rebel in Rye and X-Men: Apocalypse actor, Nicholas Hoult, and Stranger Things actress, Millie Bobby Brown, will grace the event for a meet-and-greet and autograph signing. Also together with them are Aussie actress, Claire Holt (Vampire Diaries), and Joe Dempsie (GoT /?Skins). See the event schedule here.
We highly recommend that you check out the other end of SMX for the Creative Circle area to see and meet highly talented local toy designers, comic book artists and creative minds. We were able to chitchat with comic book artists Carlo Jose San Juan and Rod Espinosa, Giosdesk and Ardie Aquino, as well as talented illustrators and painters, Camille Chua (Frillion), Maku Felix, Bea Araneta (neonsplitz), Bianca Morelos and Abigail Diaz (Serafleur). Support them by checking out their handmade creations that are available for purchase such as original artworks, prints, crafts, apparel, comics and toys.
Cosplayers are set to compete at The CAGE ?(Cosplay Authority Global Challenge) lead by the cosplay queen of the Philippines, Alodia Gosiengfiao. Visit the Asia Pop Comicon today!
