Is Armored Core 6 in the works at FromSoftware? Earlier this week, studio head Hidetaka Miyazaki seemingly indicated that a new game in the series was in development.
The news came from a since-deleted article published by Dual Shockers regarding the studio?s future plans. The website didn?t explain why the article was taken down, but other sources surmise that it was due to a mistranslation of Miyazaki?s statement. Regardless, there is still some evidence that points to the rumor being true.
Armored Core 6 May Already Be In The Development
Back in June, Miyazaki confirmed that the studio was working on three separate projects. The first was described as ?Dark Fantasy Action-RPG? similar to the Souls series ? the studio?s most famous work. The second was called a ?reboot of a previous franchise,? while the third is a totally new IP.
Given this info, it?s highly likely that Armored Core 6 could be the second new game Miyazaki mentioned. The success of The Souls franchise and Bloodborne has turned FromSoftware into one of the most respected developers in the business. Using this newly acquired clout to reboot the ailing Armored Core series seems like it would be a good move on their part.
Once a major exclusive on the first two PlayStation systems, the series began losing it?s luster in the previous console generation due to lukewarm reviews. The last game in the series, Armored Core: Verdict Day, was released way back in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360.
