Ariana Grande felt degraded about society’s view on women. She took to Twitter and finally spoke about how she truly felt about being a woman and how being reduced to a ?piece of meat? is not funny at all.
expressing sexuality in art is not an invitation for disrespect !!! just like wearing a short skirt is not asking for assault.

On Tuesday night, Grande took to Twitter and shared an encounter she and beau Mac Miller had with a fan. They were picking up food when a fan came to them. “He was loud and excited and by the time M was seated in the driver’s seat, he was literally almost in the car with us. I thought all of this was cute and exciting until he said, ‘Ariana is sexy as hell, man. I see you, I see you hitting that?,” Grande narrated.
The singer said being discussed like she wasn’t there at all and being reduced to a ?piece of meat? in the process made her feel ?sick and objectified.? After the incident, she admitted that she has been really quiet and hurt but now she refuses to recoil from the bigger issue this incident reflects. She doesn’t like the pervasive dehumanization women constantly suffer from.
She wrote, “Things like this happen all the time and are the kinds of moments that contribute to women’s sense of fear and inadequacy. We need to talk about these moments openly because they are harmful and they live on inside of us as shame. We need to share and be vocal when something makes us feel uncomfortable because if we don’t, it will just continue,” per gosanangelo.com.
Objectifying Herself in Her Music
There was one fan on Twitter who argued that Grande was also objectifying herself through her music. In response, Grande pointed to the difference between women owning their bodies and their sexuality and men viewing them as parts as well as encroaching on their autonomy. She said, “Women expressing sexuality is often mistaken for ‘hi come disrespect me,’ and that’s just not the case. Women and men can express themselves however they’d like!!! Even loving sex!! This is not an invitation to be disrespected.”
