While there is no official confirmation to ascertain the Apple Watch 2 release date, rumor has it that the tech giant might unveil the smartwatch alongside the iPhones in September. In any case, it has been nearly 2 years since the device got introduced in 2014. Even though the watch hit the store shelves only in the early 2015, it?s time for an update. Notably, Samsung?s highly-anticipated Gear S3 is also getting ready for its debut.
Recently, TheBitbag, citing internal sources from China, noted that Apple has decided to go with ?conservative orders? this time around. Some sources say the iPhone maker will opt for a radical design change, but most of them point to modest upgrades.
Apple Watch 2: Design & Configurations
Rumor has it that the Apple Watch 2 will be able operate as a stand-alone device, without looking for help from a smartphone. Apple can apparently achieve this by the ?embedded cellular capabilities.?
This smartwatch will apparently come powered by a faster chip, and will feature a barometer so as to assess elevation. Furthermore, the upcoming wearable is believed to come with a built-in GPS, which again helps in removing the dependency to connect to an iPhone.
Similar to the ?LG G Watch R? and the ?Motorola Moto 360,? Apple might be working on a circular dial, instead of the square design seen in the current models.
Technically, round dials are very hard to build and hence, Apple featured a retro-styled square face. Sadly though, this move didn?t go very well with the?fashion conscious, selfie-obsessed globe. With round dials being the preferred choice, we will not be surprised to see Apple jump on the bandwagon.
Furthermore, the Apple Watch 2 will reportedly come with a water-proofed exterior and a sturdy build. The current-generation watch does come with some level of water resistance. However, it protects the device only from showers. If you go for a swim with this watch in tow, you might damage it irreversibly. With many incidents based on accidental immersion popping up, it would be good to opt for a better IP rating.
Last but not the least, we are expecting Apple to extend band compatibility with the current-generation bands.
Apple Watch 2: Price
We are expecting the Apple Watch 2 to cost a bit higher than the original gadget. But then, Apple has to face strong competition from Android Wear and Tizen counterparts. Hence, the price may not be outrageous. The assumption is that the base model of this device could carry a price tag in the ambit of $299 and $350.
